Planning to fly? Will they allow equipment, drones, and batteries on board?

For air travel, you must place batteries and drones in your carry-on luggage. Other equipment without batteries can be placed in checked baggage.

Batteries must have a manufacturer's label showing their specifications. Generally, airlines have no issues if each battery is less than 100 or 160 Wh. Sometimes after scanning on the belt, they may ask to see one of the batteries. It's advisable that batteries are not fully charged and are in storage mode (which is also beneficial when not flying between sessions). Ideally, insulate the connectors with electrical tape or printed caps. Batteries must be stored strictly in a fireproof LiPo bag.

Before your flight, it's worth reading the rules on your chosen airline's website, as information may have been updated, and each airline has its own requirements. This knowledge will help you know your rights in case of disputes with incompetent staff.

From personal experience with FlyOne and Azimut between Russia and Armenia, I was only asked to show a battery once. When they saw the insulated contacts and specifications, they let me through.

As for equipment - everything passes without issues, though sometimes they ask you to explain what something is, pointing to a specific item. The main thing is not to panic and know your rights 😃
